GreenLine for the Environmental

Ostrava, August 28 - In continuation of several actions being taken to strengthen the Corporate Social Responsibility Programs of the company, ArcelorMittal Ostrava is offering citizens an easy way to submit suggestions or lodge complaints relating to the environment. Henceforth, all they have to do is dial the toll-free telephone number 800 100 648.
“I sincerely hope the toll-free telephone line will become a convenient tool for supporting a two-way communication between the citizens and our company for building mutual understanding,” stated Sanjay Samaddar, Chairman of the Board of ArcelorMittal Ostrava.

Callers who dial 800 100 648 will be put through to the operators who will pass on the suggestions or complaints to the office of the Chief Green Officer’s.

Besides China, ArcelorMittal Frýdek-Místek exports its products to South Korea, too. “We are also planning to penetrate the Indian market in the following months. Negotiations have already started,” says Tomáš Mischinger.

“As the situation demands, we will attempt to take measures to mitigate the problem. And if the caller provides us with his or her telephone number, we will call back by the second business day at latest to inform him or her whether something extraordinary is occurring at that time in the premises of ArcelorMittal Ostrava and, if so, we will explain the details. And also what measures are being taken, if any,” explains Petr Baranek, ArcelorMittal Ostrava’s Chief Green Officer.

“The main aim of our Green Line for the Environment is to enable us to provide citizens answers to the environmental issues they are interested in. But we will naturally also use the input to determine what most concerns citizens. We also hope that we will get useful inputs for improving the environment which is - besides Health and Safety – our top priority“ says Sanjay Samaddar.

For the sake of quality control of the information service, all calls to the GreenLine for the Environment will be monitored—as is likewise the case with the toll-free number 800 100 579, which has been in operation to handle complaints regarding the marshalling yard in Bartovice for two months.

The ArcelorMittal Ostrava’s Green Line has been put into operation on August 29th. It operates on 24/7 basis. During 8-11 and 12-14 hours on business days the calls will be answered by the operators, otherwise the answering machine records the call.
